October is Cyber Security Awareness Month
Cryptographer and computer security specialist Bruce Schneier once wrote "The user's going to pick dancing pigs over security every time."  And who can blame them?  It's hard to get excited about computer security, which is one reason October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month.  IT Services has several resources available for the Wabash community to help keep you--and your computer--safe and secure.    more...

IT Services Conducting Student Technology Survey
IT Services is conducting it's annual student technology survey, through December 8 2006. Service Spotlight: Remote Access
Heading home for Thanksgiving break? Many of the College's network resources are available from off-campus, so you can stay connected anywhere on the Internet. In addition to web-based services such as Webmail and Blackboard, you can also get to files stored on the Wilson or Caleb server and search library databases when you are away from Wabash. See our remote access information page to learn more.    more...

Coming Soon: Student Technology Survey
This year we will distribute our student technology survey just after Thanksgiving break, instead of April. The earlier survey date fits better with our project planning and implementation cycle, and will give us more time to plan and respond to campus technology needs that are identified by the technology survey. Watch your email and the web site for the survey announcement, and please give a few minutes of your time to let us know how things are going with technology at Wabash. By completing the survey, you'll also have a chance to win a great prize! If you haven't seen the results of our spring 2006 survey, you can find a summary here.    more...

Internet Upgrade Doubles Bandwidth
On November 6, Wabash IT Services and AT&T engineers upgraded Wabash's Internet connection, more than doubling our bandwidth from 20Mb to 45Mb. This level of service puts Wabash very near the top of national liberal arts colleges in Internet bandwidth per student. Along with the bandwidth increase, we also changed the way we "shape" our Internet traffic, moving to a user, rather than protocol model. Those using Internet services other than the world-wide web (such as online gaming) should see a noticeable improvement in service.    more...
