Wabash Football's Unprecedented Streak Ends

The Wabash College football team's 19-game winning streak and ride through the NCAA football tournament is over. The Little Giants fell to defending national champion Mount Union 45-16.

The Purple Raiders, owners of the nation's longest winning streak in college football, advanced to the national semifinals with the homefield victory. Mount Union intercepted three Wabash passes, returning one for a touchdown, and recovered a Wabash fumble after the Little Giants had driven to the Raiders' one-yard line.

Those micuses fed the Mount Union offense and defense. In spite of a 159-yard rushing performance by Wabash junior Chris Morris, a 31-3 halftime deficit was far too much to overcome by the Little Giants.

Wabash ends its season with a 12-1 record, the most wins in school history. Quarterback Jake Knott broke virtually every passing record in Wabash history and tight Ryan Short broke almost every receiving record.

Second-year coach Chris Creighton is now 20-3 in his Wabash career.
