A Hoosier from nearby Brookston, a Chicago native, and young man from northwestern Pennsylvania are this year’s Lilly Scholars.
Spencer Peters, Brookston, Francisco Huerta, Chicago, and Adam Barnes, Bradford, Pa., have received Lilly Scholar honors from Wabash College. The three members of the Class of 2014 will receive full tuition and room/board support during their four years at the College. The four-year scholarship is valued at $170,000.
Huerta, a senior at Rauner College Prep School in Chicago, is a National Honor Society member, senior class student council representative, and a captain of the school’s robotics team. Huerta was a founding member of the soccer team and a four year member.
The three winners joined 27 other high school seniors, from 11 states, on campus April 16 and 17 for Lilly Weekend. The students participated in small group interviews and a larger classroom type of discussion during the weekend. In photos: Top to bottom, Peters, Huerta, Barnes.
