Wabash Falls to Third-Ranked Ohio Wesleyan

Despite some early offensive runs, the Wabash soccer team could not get on the scoreboard, losing a 5-0 decision to Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon at Mud Hollow Field.

The Little Giants had an early scoring opportunity when Aaron Kunkle (Ft. Wayne, IN/Concordia Lutheran), Carlos Aguirre (Indianapolis, IN/Ben Davis), and Chase Lamm (Brownsburg, IN/Brownsburg) made a run downfield, but the crossing pass went just wide, ending the Wabash offensive try.

Ohio Wesleyan scored three goals in the first half, then added and early second-half goal. The final goal by the Battling Bishops, 9-0 on the season and ranked third in the latest NSCAA/adidas national poll, came in the final two minutes of the match.

Wabash had three shots on goal. Senior goaltender Graham Bailey (Evansville, IN/Evansville North) made eight saves in the match, taking the loss for the Little Giants.

The loss was the first of the season in North Coast Athletic Conference play for Wabash. The Little Giants are 4-4 and will play Hanover at home on Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m.
