Pre-Season Honors Continue for Short

Wabash College senior tight end Ryan Short (Indianapolis, IN/Perry Meridian) has been named to the D3Football.com and Don Hansen's Football Gazette Football Pre-Season All-American First Teams. He was named to the Street & Smith's and Lindy's College Football Annual Pre-Season All-American teams earlier this summer.

Last season, Short was a Hewlett Packard First Team All-American, in addition to receiving D3Football.com and Don Hansen’s Football Gazette Second Team All-American honors. He led the Little Giants in receptions (73)and receiving yards (901) while tying his school and conference record for touchdowns with 13. Short earned First Team All-North Coast Athletic Conference honors last season. He enters the 2002 season second on the Wabash career touchdown reception list with 28, trailing Mike Funk '90 with 33. Short is third on the Wabash career receptions list with 172 catches.

Short is also the starting center for the Wabash basketball team, averaging 11.3 points per game. He is the son of Kathryn Day and Carl Short.

The Wabash football team enters the 2002 season ranked 20th in Street & Smith's and 19th in Lindy's College Football Annual after finishing last season with a seven-game winning streak for an 8-2 record. The Little Giants tied for second in the NCAC with a 6-1 conference mark. Wabash opens the 2002 campaign at home on September 14 against Kalamazoo College. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
