Reed Named Head Wrestling Coach at Wabash College

Dean of Students Tom Bambrey has announced that Eric Reed is the new wrestling coach and director of wellness at Wabash College.

Reed comes to Wabash from Central College in Pella, Iowa, where he served as an assistant wrestling coach and exercise science instructor for the past two years. He coached three All-American wrestlers and guided the school to a 12-8 dual meet record, the first winning season for Central since 1995. He was also an assistant coach at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse for three seasons, helping the school to three conference championships while working with seven All-American wrestlers and one national champion.

"Eric comes to Wabash with impressive credentials," said Bambrey. "He was an outstanding intercollegiate wrestler, and he has been associated with strong wrestling programs. We are confident that Eric is capable of leading our program forward as we continue our proud wrestling tradition at the College."

Reed replaces Steve Kimpel, who accepted a position as head wrestling coach at the Colorado School of Mines.

Reed graduated from Wisconsin-La Crosse in 1994 and received his master's degree in exercise and sport science-pedagogy in 2000 while working as a coach at La Crosse. He was a two-time All-American wrestler as a member of the Eagles' wrestling team. He also competed as a member of the Hawkeye Wreslting Club in Iowa City, Iowa, while he was at Central College.
