Tennis Team Takes Sixth at NCAC Championships

A 4-3 loss to Allegheny on Saturday ended the hopes of a top-five finish for the Wabash tennis team as the Little Giant netters finished sixth at the 2002 North Coast Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Championships.

Wabash was swept by Wooster in the opening round of the tournament, losing by a final team score of 4-0. The Little Giants rebounded on Friday night with a 4-1 win over Oberlin to advance to Saturday's fifth-place match.

Junior Scott Paramoure (New Brownfels, TX/New Brownfels), senior Dan Altman (Monticello, IN/Twin Lakes), and freshman Nathan Cain (Columbus, IN/Columbus North) were all individual winners in singles play against Oberlin. Paramoure earned a 6-3, 6-3 victory at number two singles over Oberlin's Marion Bocek. Altman defeated Nick Ogren 6-4, 7-5 at number three singles, and Cain was 6-0, 6-1 winner at number five singles. The Little Giants swept the doubles portion of the match. Paramoure and sophomore Mike Lynch (Evansville, IN/Evansville North) took an 8-2 victory at number one doubles. Altman combined with sophomore Cameron Starnes (Crawfordsville, IN/Crawfordsville) for an 8-5 win at number two doubles. Cain and sophomore Hadi Motiee (Muncie, IN/Burris) defeated Oberlin's number three doubles team 8-4.
