Altman Takes Career Win Title as Wabash Finishes Fourth at Kerry Seward

Wabash senior Daniel Altman Monticello, IN/Twin Lakes) became the Wabash career victories leader in tennis over the weekend as the Little Giants tennis team took fourth place out of eight teams in the 2002 Kerry Seward Invitational.

Altman passed Mark Ratner '00, who finished his four-year career at Wabash with 58 singles victories and 45 doubles wins for a total of 103 career wins. Altman finished fourth at number three singles after going 2-1 for the weekend to earn his 51st singles win. He combined with sophomore Cameron Starnes (Crawfordsville, IN/Crawfordsville) to take fourth at number two doubles with a record of 2-1 for the tournament. Altman is 53-43 in his doubles career, giving him 104 victories at Wabash.

Junior Scott Paramoure (New Brownfels, TX/New Brownfels) was the top individual finisher for Wabash, taking third at number two singles. Paramoure opened with a 6-4, 6-4 win in his first match before losing 6-2, 6-4 in the second round. He was a 6-2, 6-2 winner over Rose-Hulman's Jake Isenberg to take third in the final round.

Paramoure and sophomore Mike Lynch (Evansville, IN/Evansville North) combined to take second place at number one doubles. The two players opened the tournament with a 9-8 (4) win against Spencer Kiliagan and Kelly Allen, followed by an 8-5 win over Kenyon's Joe Freeman and Mike Herrick. The pair lost to Washington University of St. Louis' combination of Brian Alvo and Pat Doyle 8-3.

Washington University was the overall team champion, finishing with 93 points. Kenyon was second (76 points), Wittenberg finished third (49 points), while Wabash was fourth (36 points). Rose-Hulman took fifth (30 points). Hanover and Anderson tied for sixth (19 points), and St. Joseph's College was eighth (2 points).
