Former Wabash Football Coach Named to Buccaneers' Staff

Former Wabash College football coach Stan Parrish was named quarterbacks coach for the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Tuesday. Parrish was named to new Tampa Bay head coach Jon Gruden's staff, along with six other new assistant coaches.

Parrish was the head coach at Wabash from 1978 through 1982, compiling a record of 42-3-1 in his five seasons. He owns the best winning percentage in Wabash football history at .924 and is fourth on the all-time victories list. He was elected to the Wabash Athletic Hall of Fame in 1988.

After leaving Wabash, Parrish spent a season at Purdue University as a quarterbacks coach. He was the head coach at Marshall for two seasons before taking over the Kansas State program in 1986. He was named the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Rutgers, where he spent six seasons before accepting the quarterback coaching position at the University of Michigan. Parrish spent the past two seasons at Michigan as the Wolverines' offensive coordinator.

While this is his first coaching position in the NFL, Parrish has worked with many pro football players. He coached tight end Pete Metzelaars '82 for four seasons at Wabash College, and has worked with NFL quarterbacks Ray Lucas, Jim Everett, Scott Campbell, Brian Griese, and Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady during their college careers.

Parrish graduated from Heidelberg College in 1968 and earned his master's degree while working as a graduate assistant coach at Purdue in 1975.

Parrish joins Richard Mann, Kirby Wilson, Art Valero, Raheem Morris, Jeremy Bates, and Michael Christianson, who were all named as Tampa Bay assistants on Tuesday.
