Tankers Lose to Kalamazoo

The Wabash swimming and diving team traveled to Kalamazoo, Michigan on Saturday for a dual meet against a tough Kalamazoo College squad. The Little Giants fell for only the second time this season in dual meets, losing 175-68.

The Little Giants took first place in two events. Junior Nick Collins (Michigantown, IN/Clinton Central) finished nearly two seconds ahead of the rest of the field in the 500 freestyle, touching the pad in 4:55.37. Freshman Colin Fahey (Indianapolis, IN/Bishop Chatard) continued an outstanding first-year campaign, taking first place in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:02.63.

Senior Bernie Manker (Grand Rapids, MI/Northview) grabbed a second-place finish in the 100 freestyle (49.80).

Several Wabash swimmers brought home third place finishes. Collins took third in the 1000 freestyle (10:24.09), as did Manker in the 200 free (1:51.75). Sophomore Brandon Peacock (Crawfordsville, IN/Crawfordsville) was third in the 50 free (22.71) and the 100 butterfly (54.37). Freshman Brad Williams (Columbus, IN/Columbus North) took third in the 100 backstroke (57.21). Brett Findley (Bargersville, IN/Franklin Community) was third in the 500 free (5:04.94). Senior Jon-Myckle Price (Logansport, IN/Logansport) took third in the 100 breaststroke (1:04.20).

The Little Giants will participate in the North Coast Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships, held Feb. 13-16 in Canton, Ohio.
