Pediatrics and Caring for Children with Severe Disabilities will be the topic of Discussion at Wabash College by Richard Gunderman

Crawfordsville, Ind. — The Wabash College Philosophy and Religion departments are pleased to announce the visit to campus of Richard Gunderman of the Schools of Medicine and Liberal Arts at Indiana University. Dr. Gunderman will speak on the topic of “Why Should We Care for the Least Among Us” on Wednesday evening, February 26. The lecture will start at 8 p.m. in Lovell Lecture Room in Baxter Hall on the Wabash College campus.

Born in Indianapolis, Gunderman graduated from Wabash College in 1983. As a member of the Medical Scientist Training Program at the University of Chicago, he received his Ph.D. from the Committee on Social Thought in 1989, and his M.D. in 1992. He then spent a year abroad as a Chancellor Scholar of the Federal Republic of Germany, returning to Chicago to complete his residency in diagnostic radiology. He joined the faculty of the Schools of Medicine and Liberal Arts at Indiana University in 1997, where he is now Vice Chairman of Radiology, Director of Pediatric Radiology, and Associate Professor of Radiology, Medical Education, Philosophy, Liberal Arts, and Philanthropic Studies. He is the author of 74 scholarly articles and one book, and each summer co-teaches the six-week Institute on Philanthropy and Voluntary Service in Indianapolis for undergraduates from around the United States. He and his wife Laura have three children and live in Zionsville, Ind.
