Golf Team Honored by Coaches Association

The Golf Coaches Association of America recognized the Wabash College golf team as one of 23 Division III All-Academic Teams for the 2009-2010 season.

Wabash had a team grade point average of 3.254 for the academic year. A team must carry a minimum average of 3.0 for the academic year to qualify as a GCAA All-Academic Team.

“This is a tremendous honor,” Mac Petty said. “It shows our players are as serious about their work in the classroom as they are about their work on the golf course. Playing collegiate golf takes a lot of work to prepare for the season and for matches nearly every week. That preparation takes even more work balancing the time commitments to the sport along with the required work to maintain this high of a team grade point average in such a rigorous academic environment.”

The Little Giants did not compete last week, but will return to action for their final event of the fall portion of the season this weekend at the DePauw Small College Golf Classic. The event will be held Saturday and Sunday, October 9-10, at the Deer Creek Golf Club in Clayton, Indiana.
