Title: The Great Depression

Description: The Great Depression was the largest economic downturn in US history. This course asks what caused of the Great Depression and whether the policy responses were appropriate. We also study the financial crisis of 2007-08 and compare that downturn to the Great Depression. The course pays particular attention to banking panics, stock markets, the gold standard, and fiscal and monetary policies. Prerequisite: Econ 101
