Description: | 2nd Half Semester This half semester course will focus on how Cystic Fibrosis "works" on a biochemical level, including the normal function of the Cystic Fibrosis Transmembrane Conductance Receptor (CFTR) and the role of ion channels in cellular and tissue function, common mutations that cause cystic fibrosis, and strategies for treating cystic fibrosis, including drug design and genetic therapy. Second half semester. Prerequisites: Che 361 or Bio 212 or permission of the instructor. |
