Wabash is Ready to Present First Theater Production of the Season

Crawfordsville, Ind.—The Wabash College Theater Department will present its first production of the season, The Newton Project, which will run from October 2-5 in Ball Theater in the Fine Arts Center on the Wabash campus. The play is written and directed by Dwight Watson, and performances are scheduled for 8:00 p.m. each evening.

The Newton Project introduces a lively collection of solo voices, including a soulful percussionist, an ex-convict auditioning for a play, an unemployed sailor, and an amateur float designer. This series of short plays, including The Big Bang, A Seamless Pitch, Birth of a Star, Stage Fright Pianologue, The 1st Dead Man in Grover’s Corners, Lizzie’s Lilliput and Reign in the Sterling Sphinxes, pays tribute to an unseen character by the name of Newton, a guiding force in the acceleration of unexpected theatrical moments. Written by Wabash College theater professor Dwight Watson, The Newton Monologs, recently published by Contemporary Drama Service, will premiere at Wabash with this performance.

The cast list includes Wabash students Chris Laguna, Chris Mehl, Edward Conley, Richard Winters, Matthew McKay, Reynaldo Pacheco, and Janathan Grandoit. Indianapolis actress, Suzie David, also stars. Crawfordsville residents Alexandra Hudson, Jamie Watson, Nikki Perry, and Christina Holstrom, and Purdue University student Tiffany Lafferty are also members of the cast.

James Gross is the scene designer with Luke Elliott serving as stage manager; Donald Claxon as assistant stage manager; and Danny Lippert as property master. Denis Farr will serve as assistant to the director-sound with Laura Conners as costume designer.

Tickets for the play are free. However, you must obtain your free tickets at the Fine Arts Box Office before attending a theater production. Tickets are available from the Fine Arts Box Office Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. until curtain time. The Box Office will open one hour before curtain time for weekend performances.
