Wabash to Welcome Class of 2006

Crawfordsville, Ind.—Wabash College will open its doors Saturday, August 24 for all incoming freshman to start the fall semester. About 275 students representing 20 states and seven countries will begin a five-day orientation program.

Orientation will start at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday when students report to the Fine Arts Center for orientation information and housing assignments. At 1:00 p.m. President Andrew Ford will welcome the new students and their families in the Chapel. Following at 2:15 p.m. will be a discussion on Wabash and Careers. This will introduce the new students to the College and to the courses of study relevant for professional preparation. After parents meet with the Freshman Advisors at 4:30 p.m. the program for parents is concluded. The freshmen will conclude the day by attending a picnic at 6:30 p.m. in the Arboretum on the Wabash campus.

During the next few days, freshman will be kept busy with different testing in English, math, and foreign language. They will also have an opportunity to have a hands-on introduction to the college computing and an introduction to the writing and quantitative skills centers. On Monday, the freshmen will participate in community service projects in Crawfordsville and Montgomery County.

All upperclass students report back to college on August 29 when classes begin.
