Annual Ides of August at Wabash College Set for August 23

Wabash College’s annual Ides of August program will be presented in Detchon International Hall on Friday, August 23. The Ides of August is the College’s traditional forum for faculty and staff members to discuss their recent projects.

Featured on Friday’s program are: James Makubuya, “Cultural Effects of the Migration of the Adungu in East Africa,” at 9:30 a.m.; Gustavo Barbosa, “Understanding Economic and Political Development. Bringing the World into the Classroom,” at 9:50 a.m.; John Byrnes, “Mein Kampf,” at 10:10 a.m.; David Blix, “Traveling the Silk Road,” at 11:00 a.m.; Mike Abbott, “Oedipus and the Axis of Evil: Tragedy in the New Millennium,” at 11:20 a.m.; and Andrew Schlewitz, “Mexican Migration to Crawfordsville,” at 11:40 a.m.

The Friday afternoon program will include: Bert Baretto and Dave Maharry, “Least Median of Squares and Regression Through the Origin,” at 1:30 p.m.; Rich Dallinger and Bobby Horton, “Playing the Game of Life at Wabash,” at 2:00 p.m.; Aus Brooks, “Virtual Field Trips,” at 3:00 p.m.; Bill Placher, “A Textbook in Systematic Theology,” at 3:20 p.m.; and John Zimmerman, “St. Petersburg, Russia: Reflections and Hints of Things to Come,” at 3:40 p.m.

The presentations will conclude with a reception in the Detchon International Hall. The public is welcome at the Ides of August program.
