Soccer Team Defeats Rose-Hulman

Wabash outshot and outscored the Fighting Engineers of Rose-Hulman on Wednesday afternoon, taking home a 2-1 win.

The Little Giants earned their second win of the season on a goal by Ben Robinson (Indianapolis, IN/North Central) with nine minutes left in regulation. The senior found the back of the net for the first time this season from 15-yards out after taking a pass from Carlos Aguirre (Indianapolis, IN/Ben Davis) dribbled through the Rose-Hulman defense.

Wabash jumped in front 1-0 in the first half when Aguirre found freshman Brandon Hall (Boise, ID/Capital), who scored his first goal as a Little Giant with 12:45 gone in the first period.

Rose-Hulman tied the match five minutes into the second half, but Wabash goalie Graham Bailey (Evansville, IN/Evansville North) shut the door after that by making five saves in the game.

The Little Giants outshot Rose-Hulman 14-9, and had nine shots-on-goal compared to six for the Engineers.

Wabash (2-6, 0-2) will return to action in the North Coast Athletic Conference on Saturday afternoon as the Little Giants play host to Oberlin College as part of the 2000 Homecoming festivities. Prior to the Wabash-Oberlin match, the Wabash junior varsity will play Wabash soccer alumni in a match that starts at 10 a.m.
