Soccer Team Shut Out At Millikin

The Little Giant soccer team played 70 minutes of shutout soccer on Sunday against Millikin, but could not hold on in the final 20 minutes. Millikin scored two goals in the last stretch to take a 2-0 victory.

Wabash goalie Graham Bailey (Evansville, IN/Evansville North) turned aside 17 of the 19 shots on goal by the Big Blue in the match. The first goal by Millikin came off of a penalty shot in the 71st minute by Eric Lee. The final goal of the match was scored in the 85th minute to put the game away for the Big Blue.

"I thought we were a very competative soccer team for 70 minutes," said coach George Perry. "We have to react faster on corner kicks. Both goals were set up by corner kicks."

Wabash fired 17 shots at the Millikin goal in the match. Senior Momodou Jagne (Banjul, Gambia/Gambia) led the team with five shots on goal.

The Little Giants are 1-3, and will be in action on Saturday, September 16 against Hiram College. The North Coast Athletic Conference match will begin 2 p.m. at Mud Hollow Field.
