Ishman Second in Hammer at Wabash Invitational

Wabash junior Caleb Ishman (Gary, IN/Emerson Visual and Performing Arts took second place in the hammer on throw on Saturday in the first Wabash Invitational and Junior College Super Regional, held under less than ideal weather conditions on Saturday at Huntsman Track. No team score was kept at the meet.

Despite a heavy downpour that hampered efforts to score championship qualifying times and distances, Ishman managed a toss of 146 feet, 9 inches to take second place overall. Freshman Sean Gerold (Crawfordsville, IN/Crawfordsville) was fifth overall in the event with a throw of 136 feet, 9 inches.

The weather kept many of the Little Giants from participating in the meet, saving their efforts for the North Coast Athletic Conference Track and Field Championships that take place this weekend.

Junior Mark Sherer (Valparaiso, IN/Valparaiso) was fourth in the 1500-meter run (4:06.99). Junior Peter DeYoung (Evansville, IN/Bosse) took fourth in the high jump, clearing a height of 6 feet 4 inches.
