DeYoung, Ishman Take Firsts as Wabash Finishes Fourth at Millikin

Wabash juniors Peter DeYoung (Evansville, IN/Bosse) and Caleb Ishman (Gary, IN/Emerson Visual and Performing Arts) captured individual first-place finishes as the Wabash track and field team finished fourth out of 14 teams at the 2002 Millikin University Classic on Saturday.

DeYoung was first in the high jump, clearing 6 feet, seven inches to take home the blue ribbon. He also captured second place in the long jump with a leap of 21 feet, 1/2 inch. Ishman was the top competitor in the hammer throw, finishing first with a throw of 145 feet, six inches.

North Central won the event with 251 points. Greenville College was second (105 points), while Millikin was third (88.5 points). Wabash finished with 61 points, followed by Illinois Wesleyan (52), Wilberforce University (50), Rose-Hulman (35.5), Western Illinois (32), and Principia (19). Lindenwood University took tenth place (18), with Spoon River College (11), Danville Area Community College (10), Eureka (5), and the St. Louis University Track Club (4) rounding out the team scoring.
