Green, Ishman, Ruge Earn Two Top-Four Finishes at Manchester Invite

Senior Darren Green (Dallas, TX/South Texas HS for Health Professions) won the 200-meter dash and finished second in the 100-meter dash, junior Caleb Ishman (Gary, IN/Emerson Visual and Performing Arts) was first in the hammer throw, and sophomore Dan Ruge (Chesterton, IN/Chesterton) had third and fourth-place finishes at the 2002 Manchester College Invitational on Saturday. Wabash finished fifth out of seven teams in the competition.

Taylor University won the meet with 158 points. Tri-State was second (107.5 points), while Bethel College took third (92.5 points). Huntington was fourth (62 points), Wabash finished fifth (55 points), host Manchester was sixth (43 points), and Spring Arbor finished seventh (23 points).

Green crossed the finish line first in the 200-meter dash, finishing in 22.89. He finished second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.34, just .35 behind the first-place runner from Tri-State.

Ishman threw the hammer 151-feet, 6 inches to capture the title in the event. Teammate Derek Wilder (Columbus, IN/Columbus East) was fourth in the hammer throw with a toss of 125-11.

Ruge took third place in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:08.18, finishing just ahead of teammate Mark Sherer (Valparaiso, IN/Valparaiso). Sherer was fourth with a time of 408.75. Ruge was fourth in the 3000-meter steeplchase, touring the circuit in 10:14.00.
