Mulligan Named Assistant Basketball Coach at Wabash

Crawfordsville, IN - Jason Mulligan has been hired as an assistant basketball coach at Wabash College. Mulligan spent last season as an intern and a basketball assistant at Wabash, working with head coach Mac Petty. His new duties will also include serving as an assistant to Vernon Mummert, director of athletics at the College.

Mulligan, a 2000 graduate of Olivet Nazarene University, was a junior varsity basketball coach at Highland High School during the 2000-01 season. He also worked as an event manager for Mid-America Sports and Events Group. He served as a sports information intern at Olivet Nazarene in 1999, and was a high school and middle school substitute teacher. He wrote a column for The Daily Journal in Kankakee, Illinois and was a sportswriter for the school newspaper.

"I feel blessed to have the opportunity to remain at Wabash," said Mulligan. "I cannot think of any coach that I would rather learn the game of basketball from than Coach Petty. I am grateful to Athletics Director Mummert and the administration for creating this position for me."

Mulligan was a four-year member of the Olivet Nazarene varsity basketball team. He was named the Most Improved Player as a senior.

"Jason was outstanding in his first year at Wabash as an intern," said Mummert. "As a result of his performance as a coach and as a recruiter, the College felt it was important to keep him as a part of the basketball program. I feel we have the right person to assume the duties of an assistant coach and assistant to the athletics director."

The Wabash basketball team finished the 2001-02 season with a record of 15-11. The Little Giants were third in the North Coast Athletic Conference with a record of 11-5 durin the regular season.

Mulligan is engaged to be married in June of 2002 and resides in Crawfordsville.
