Wabash Batters Handcuffed by Ferrum

The Wabash College baseball team was held to four hits by Ferrum College on Monday in Fort Myers, Florida as the Little Giants lost 14-2 to the Panthers.

The Little Giants put the first run on the board in the top of the second inning. Mike Mack (Butler, IN/Eastside) and Bryson Renbarger (Converse, IN/Eastern) opened the inning with walks. After two flyballs to right field, freshman shortstop Joe Motuliak (Lafayette, IN/Jefferson) (photo right) drove in the first run of the game with a single to put Wabash in front 1-0. But Ferrum put five runs on the board in the bottom of the second, then scored one in the fifth, two in the sixth before adding four in the seventh and a final run in the eighth inning. The Little Giants scored one final time in the game when freshman third baseman Jared Martin (Rosedale, IN/Riverton Parke), the all-time leading home run hitter in Indiana high school history, blasted a shot over the right field fence for his first college home run.

Jake Knott (Lafayette, IN/Jefferson) had two singles for the Little Giants to raise his season average to .321.
