Grapplers Grab Seventh at Mid-State Wrestling Tournament

Wabash College's Chadwick Court was the site of the first Mid-States Wrestling League Championships, held Saturday. The Little Giants tied for sixth place in the nine-team tournament.

Wabash finished the day with 51.5 points. Manchester College won the event with 204 points. Millikin was second (106), Olivet was third (58), Rose-Hulman finished fourth (57.5), and Mount St. Joseph was fifth (54.5). MacMurray (51.5) tied with Wabash for sixth, with Waynesburg (46.5) and Illinois College (11.5) rounded out the team scoring.

Junior Logan Kuhne (Ft. Wayne, IN/Northrop) took second place in the 184-pound weight class. Kuhne defeated Nick Hoover of Manchester by fall at 4:03 in his first match, then defeated Millikin's Mike Mays 9-1 before losing to champion Jared Combs of Mount St. Joseph. Freshman Chris Healy (Jasper, IN/Jasper) took third at 174 pounds. Healy won his opening match before falling to the consolation bracket with a loss in his second match of the day. He rebounded to win his final two matches to earn the third-place victory.

Phu Hong (Indianapolis, IN/Lawrence Central) was fourth at 125 pounds, and Reece Collins (Princeton, IN/Princeton) finished fifth at 133 pounds.
