Track Team Takes Fifth at DePauw

The Wabash track and field team finished fifth out of 12 teams at the Tiger Indoor Invitational, held Saturday at DePauw University.

The Little Giants finished with 62 points. St. Joseph's College won the meet with 91 points. DePauw was second (85), Greenville College took third (72), while Berea College was fourth (65). The University of Indianapolis (60), Anderson (57), Vincennese (52), Earlham (12), the University of Southern Indiana (7), Knox College (3), and Franklin (1) rounded out the scoring in the 38-event competition.

Freshman Sean Dillon (Carthage, IN/Rushville) was the only individual champion for Wabash. Dillon won the 5,000-meter run with a time of 16:06.44. Senior Jared Smit (Lafayette, IN/Central Catholic) took second in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:46.78, setting a personal-best time. Sophomore Dan Ruge (Chesterton, IN/Chesterton) finished second in the 800-meter run (1:59.93).
