Indoor Season Opens for Wabash Track and Field

The 2002 indoor track and field season got underway on Saturday for Wabash College as several Little Giant thinclads participated in the Illinois Wesleyan University Relays.

Juniors Peter DeYoung (Evansville, IN/Bosse) and John Crumpacker (Crawfordsville, IN/Ben Davis) placed in the top-five in their events for Wabash. DeYoung tied for second in the high jump, clearing 1.98 meters. He also finished 11th in the long jump with a leap of 6.03 meters. Crumpacker tied for fifth in the pole vault by clearing 3.97 meters. Senior Chris Long (Kokomo, IN/Northwestern) was ninth in the weight throw (13.01 meters). Junior Caleb Ishman (Gary, IN/Emerson Visual and Performing Arts) took 12th (12.36 meters).

Wabash finished fifth in the distance medley (10:38.90) and eighth in the 4 X 200-meter relay (1:35.25).

No team score was kept. Wabash will participate in the North Coast Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Relays on Saturday at Denison University in Granville, Ohio.
