Little Giants Sixth at AmeriHost Inn Invitational

The Wabash College wrestling team finished sixth out of 11 teams at the AmeriHost Inn Wrestling Invitational, held Saturday at MacMurray College.

The Little Giants finished with 49.5 points. William Penn University won the Invitational with 147 points, followed by Millikin (124), Augustana (113.5), Truman State (94.5), and Missouri Baptist (55.5). Central Missouri State was seventh (48), with Dubuque (44), Mt. Saint Clair (43.5), Illinois College (41), and MacMurray (21) rounding out the the team scoring.

Freshman Adam Miller (Pendleton, IN/Pendleton Heights) went 5-1 for the weekend to take third place at 157 pounds. Miller lost his opening match 3-2, then won his next five matches to march through the bottom half of the bracket. He won a major decision (18-6) against Jacob Rodriguez of Millikin, then won his next three matches before taking the third-place title with a pin against Jeremy Nice of Central Missouri State University 1:59 into their match.

Junior Logan Kuhne (Ft. Wayne, IN/Northrop) took fifth at 184 pounds with a 4-2 record. Freshman Phu Hong (Indianapolis, IN/Lawrence Central) was sixth at 125 pounds with a 3-3 mark, while fellow freshman Danny Creasap (Indianapolis, IN/Lawrence Central) and sophomore Reece Collins (Princeton, IN/Princeton) took eight place in their respective weight classes. Creasap took eighth at 149 pounds, while Collins wrestled at 133 pounds.

The Little Giant grapplers will return to action on January 4th and 5th at the Midwest Wrestling Classic in Indianapolis.
