Wabash Undefeated in Dual Meets with Win over Indianapolis

The Wabash College swimming and diving team remained undefeated in dual meets after a convincing 174-67 victory over the University of Indianapolis Saturday afternoon at the Wabash Class of 1950 Natatorium.

The Little Giants won both relays and eight of eleven individual events. Zach Sundstrom (Indianapolis, IN/North Central), Colin Fahey (Indianapolis, IN/Bishop Chatard), Brandon Peacock (Crawfordsville, IN/Crawfordsville), and Steve Birrer (Indianapolis, IN/Brownsburg) teamed up to take the opening 200 medley relay in season best time of 1:38.62.

Wabash had three double individual winners. Freshman Brad Williams (Columbus, IN/Columbus North) won the 1000 freestyle (10:16.19) and 500 freestyle (4:55.74). Fahey, another freshman, claimed the 50 free (22.30) and 100 breaststroke (1:00.17). Junior Nick Roersma (Grand Rapids, MI/Northview) produced highest scores on both boards, winning the one-meter event with 238.60 and the three-meter competition with a team season-best 252.50

Junior Nick Collins (Michigantown, IN/Clinton Central) won the 200 free (1:48.45). Birrer finished first in the 100 freestyle with a time of 49.38.

The 400 freestyle relay team of Williams, Collins, Brett Findley (Bargersville, IN/Franklin Community), and Bernie Manker (Grand Rapids, MI/Northview) won the final event of the day in 3:19.46.

The Little Giants will take a break for final exams before departing on December 26 for eleven days of training and competition in Palm Beach County, Florida.
