Aguirre Boots Wabash to 3-2 Win over Wooster

Another game, another strong performance by junior forward Carlos Aguirre (Indianapolis, IN/Ben Davis (photo) as Wabash jumped out to a 3-0 lead and held on to defeat the College of Wooster 3-2 in soccer on Saturday afternoon.

Aguirre scored the first two goals of the game for the Little Giants, his eighth and ninth goals of the year and his sixth goal in the last seven games. His first came just two minutes into the match on a breakaway against the goalie to give Wabash a 1-0 lead. Aguirre pounded home his second goal in the 23rd minute, scoring on a penalty kick.

Junior Adam Reisig (Kansas City, MO/Baker College) scored the third goal of the match in the 40th minute off of a pass by freshman Dan Schubert (Lebanon, IL/Lebanon) to put the Little Giants in front 3-0.

Wooster answered with two goals in the the final 10 minutes, but the Little Giants held on for the win.

Junior goalkeeper Graham Bailey (Evansville, IN/Evansville North) made seven saves as Wooster fired 13 total shots in the match. The Little Giants scored their three goals on just five shots on net.

The win in the North Coast Athletic Conference match moves Wabash to 4-5-2, 2-2-1 in conference play. The Little Giants will play Denison at Mud Hollow Field on Saturday at 1 p.m.
