Come-From-Behind Effort Earns Wabash Tie in Conference Opener

Two come-from-behind goals gave Wabash a 2-2 tie in its opening North Coast Athletic Conference game on Saturday against Kenyon.

Kenyon opened the scoring the first half with a goal in the 34th minute before junior Carlos Aguirre (Indianapolis, IN/Ben Davis) tied the match with his fourth goal of the season. Kenyon took a 2-1 lead with only seven minutes left in the match, but Wabash found another goal to answer.

Senior Jeremy Willet (Dyer, IN/Lake Central) scored an unassisted goal less than one minute later, tying the match at 2-2. Neither team could score a game-winning goal in the final minutes or extra period.

Freshman goalie Nick George (West Lafayette, IN/Harrison) made five saves in his first game of the season for Wabash, filling in for injured goalie Graham Bailey (Evansville, IN/Evansville North).

Wabash (2-3-1, 0-0-1) will travel to Hanover on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. match.
