Red Pack Takes Fourth at GLCAs

Senior Jared Smit (Lafayette, IN/Central Catholic) took third place in the individual standings to lead Wabash to a fourth-place finish in the Great Lakes Colleges Association Cross Country Championships at Earlham College on Saturday.

Smit toured the five-mile course in 27:09 for the third-place finish. Sophomore Dan Ruge (Chesterton, IN/Chesterton) finished 12th for the Red Pack (28:21). Junior Mark Sherer (Valparaiso, IN/Valparaiso) was 16th (28:40), and Dan Sweet (West Bloomfield, MI/Culver Military Academy) was 21st (29:12).

Freshman Sean Dillon (Carthage, IN/Rushville) took 42nd place with a time of 30:35 to round out the scoring for the Little Giants.

Kenyon College won the event with 41 points. DePauw was second (48 points), Albion was third (85 points), while Wabash took fourth with 89 points. Wooster (121 points), Kalamazoo (177 points), Denison (181 points), Ohio Wesleyan (209 points), and Earlham (228 points) rounded out the scoring.
