Wabash Tied for Third After First Day of NCAC Championships

The Wabash College track and field team tied for third out of ten teams after the first of two days of the North Coast Athletic Conference Track and Field Championships at Ohio Wesleyan University.

The Little Giants finished the first day with 25 points, tied with Allegheny College for third. Wittenberg leads the team scoring with 54.5 points after the first day.

Junior Darren Green (Dallas, TX/South Texas HS for Health Professions) finished the preliminary rounds with first-place finishes in the 100 and 200-meter dashes. Green finished with a time of 11.02 to win the 100-meter dash, then followed with a time of 22.21 to take first in the 200-meter dash.

Freshman Chris Morris (Zionsville, IN/Zionsville) took second in the 400-meter dash, finishing in 50.49. Other top finishers in the first day of the track competition for Wabash were Jared Smit (Lafayette, IN/Central Catholic) with a third in the 10,000-meter run (33:07.61), and Brandon Ship (Indianapolis, IN/Franklin Central) took second in the 400-meter hurdles (56.27).

Josh Richey (Michigantown, IN/Clinton Central) took third in the discus throw with a toss of 132' 3" to score for the Little Giants in the field events. John Crumpacker (Crawfordsville, IN/Ben Davis) was fourth in the javelin with a throw of 173' 1".

The final day of the NCAC Championships will take place on Saturday at Ohio Wesleyan.
