Wabash 1-1 After First Day of NCAC Tennis Championships

The Wabash College tennis team finished 1-1 in the first two rounds of the North Coast Athletic Conference Tennis Championships to advance to the fifth-place match on Saturday.

The Little Giants lost 4-0 to the College of Wooster in the opening round, but came back to defeat the host Oberlin Yeomen in the consolation bracket by a final score of 4-0.

Constantine Alexander (Kokomo, IN/Kokomo) was a 6-0, 6-2 winner at number two doubles for Wabash in the match against Oberlin. Daniel Altman (Monticello, IN/Twin Lakes) won at number four singles (6-1, 6-3), and Cameron Starnes (Crawfordsville, IN/Crawfordsville) was a 6-2, 6-2 winner at number six singles.

The Little Giants won two of the three doubles matches against Oberlin. Alexander and Mike Lynch (Evansville, IN/Evansville North) took an 8-3 win at number one doubles, while Altman and Starnes combined for an 8-5 win at number two doubles.

Wabash will play Allegheny at 8:30 a.m. Saturday for fifth place in the final round of the NCAC Championships.
