DeYoung cleared 6’ 9-1/2” in the high jump on Saturday at the Millikin University Big Blue Open, setting a Wabash College school record and automatically qualifying for the NCAA Track and Field Championships to be held at Millikin May 24-26.
DeYoung broke the record of 6’ 8” set by Dave Montieth ’67 in 1967 and tied by Tom Vandergriff ’87 in 1984. In addition to the first-place finish in the high jump, DeYoung added a 42’ 4” leap in the triple jump to take first place in that event as well.
DeYoung also earned the Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week Award on February 11 during the indoor track and field season
