Little Giants Split First Day's Matches in GLCA Championships

Wabash lost its opening match of the Great Lakes Colleges Association Tennis Championships on Friday, but bounced back to take a win in the second match of the day to put the Little Giants in the fifth place match on Saturday.

Wabash lost 4-1 to Denison in the morning match, as only Scott Paramoure (Bath, PA/New Brownfels - Logansport) earned an individual win for the Little Giants. Paramoure came from behind to take a 1-6, 6-2, 6-3 win at number three singles.

The afternoon session was much better for Wabash as the Little Giants earned a 4-2 win over Albion. Mike Lynch (Evansville, IN/Evansville North) was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at number one singles. Paramoure went 2-0 for the day with a 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 victory at number two singles. Having swept the doubles matches for the first point of the match, the final win came from freshman Hadi Motiee (Muncie, IN/Muncie Burris). Motiee took a straight sets 6-0, 6-4 win at number six singles to give the Little Giants the win.

Lynch and Paramoure took an 8-3 win at number one doubles to open the match against Albion. Motiee and Andrew Shelton (Indianapolis, IN/North Central) were 8-5 winners at number two doubles. Daniel Altman (Monticello, IN/Twin Lakes) and Klint Schwenk (Jasper, IN/Jasper) completed the sweep of the doubles matches with an 8-6 win at number three doubles.

Wabash will play at 11 a.m. in the fifth place match at the Collett Tennis Center on Saturday morning.
