DeYoung, Sherer Take Firsts at Gerald England Invitational

Wabash sophomores Peter DeYoung (Evansville, IN/Evansville Bosse) and Mark Sherer (Valparaiso, IN/Valparaiso) added another first-place finish to their collections at the Gerald England Track and Field Invitational at the University of Indianapolis on Saturday.

DeYoung cleared 6' 6" to take the top spot at the event. He added a third place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 40' 10".

Sherer took first place in the 1500-meter run with a personal best time of 4:01.10. He also added a fourth place finish in the 5000-meter run with a time of 15:33.31. Dan Ruge (Chesterton, IN/Chesterton) finished third in the 1500 for the Little Giants (4:05.94).

John Crumpacker (Crawfordsville, IN/Ben Davis) and Brandon Shipp (Indianapolis, IN/Franklin Central) added third place finishes for the Little Giant thinclads. Crumpacker was third in the javelin throw with a toss of 171' 3", while Shipp finished third in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:05.14.

No official team score was kept in the event.

The Little Giants will travel to the Eastern Illinois Invitational on Saturday.
