Thinclads Take Fifth at Conference Championships

The Wabash track and field team took fifth in the annual North Coast Athletic Conference Indoor Championships on Friday and Saturday.

The Little Giants got a huge performance from sophomore Mark Sherer, who ran personal-best times in the 1500 and 3000 meter races. Sherer took third in both events, finishing in 4:06.44 in the 1500 meters and 9:04.33 in the 3000.

John Crumpacker and Peter DeYoung each finished in the top three in their field events. Crumpacker took third in the pole vault, clearing 13' 8 1/4". DeYoung was second in the high jump by clearing 6' 5".

Darren Green added a fourth-place finish in the 200 meters with a time of 23.24

"I'm very pleased with our effort," said head coach Rob Johnson. "We improved one place from last year's finish, and still did not have a complete team because of various factors. I'm pleased with the progress we're making as a team."
