Tennis Team Sweeps Augustana

The Wabash College tennis team opened the 2001 portion of its season by sweeping the Augustana Vikings 7-0.

Sophomore Constantine Alexander (Kokomo, IN/Kokomo) opened the match with a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 1 singles over David Currie. Freshman Mike Lynch (Evansville, IN/Evansville North) was a winner at No. 2 singles with a 6-2, 6-4 win against Eric Hanson. Scott Paramoure (Bath, PA/New Brownfels - Logansport), Andrew Shelton (Indianapolis, IN/North Central), Dan Altman (Monticello, IN/Twin Lakes), and Hadi Motiee (Muncie, IN/Muncie Burris) also earned wins in the singles portion of the match.

Lynch and Alexander combined for an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles for Wabash. Paramoure and Shelton took an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles over David Sitko and Matt Deans of Augustana. Freshman Cameron Starnes (Crawfordsville, IN/Crawfordsville) and Altman completed the sweep for the Little Giants with an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles.

The Little Giants are 1-0, and will face the College of Wooster at Collett Tennis Center on Saturday at 10 a.m.
