Local Residents to Dance at Spring Concert Held at Wabash

CRAWFORDSVILLE, IN — To conclude this academic year, two Wabash College performing groups including the Wamidan World Music Ensemble and Jazz Band, will present a variety program of music and dances. The spring concert will be held on Tuesday, April 16 at 8 p.m. in Salter Concert Hall in the Fine Arts Center.

The World Music Ensemble will open the program with items ranging from songs and instrumental music to folk dances of East and West Africa. In the presentations of folk dancing, the Wabash College World Music Ensemble will be joined by members of the Crawfordsville Dancer's Elite in the presentation of three differences dances from Ghana and Uganda. The group consists of dance instructor Anna Jean Templeton, Ana Carter, Caity Charles, Cristin Coons, Lyndsay Gobel, Sarah Handley, Haley Harmon, Sophia Templeton, and Darby Truax. The World Music Ensemble is under the direction of James Makubuya.

The Jazz Band, under the direction of John Hill, will conclude the concert evening with selections from Jazz heavy names including Glenn Miller, Dizzy Gillespie, and Charles Mingus.

Admission to the concert is free. The public is cordially invited.
