Little Giants Cap Allen Center Dedication with Win over Denison

The Wabash College basketball finished a weekend spent dedicating the new Allen Athletics and Recreation Center by taking an 87-68 win over Denison University on Saturday at Chadwick Court.

A game that saw three ties and nine lead changes in the first 13 minutes only to have the Little Giants go on a 10-0 run gave Wabash its tenth win of the season. Denison would cut the Wabash lead to as few as nine points on two different occasions before Wabash took control in the second half.

For the second game in a row, the key points came from the Wabash bench. Reserve guard Jeff Espino (Mission, TX/Mission) (photo) scored the first six points of his career in the 10-0 Wabash run to put the Little Giants in front for good.

Joe DesJean (Indianapolis, IN/Perry Meridian) continued to shine, netting his tenth double-double of the season. DesJean led Wabash with 25 points, 13 rebounds, and a career-high seven blocked shots. Pleas Ferguson (Indianapolis, IN/Arsenal Tech) added 19 points, with Ryan Short (Indianapolis, IN/Perry Meridian) scoring 13.

Wabash moves above the .500 mark to 10-9 with the win. The Little Giants stay in third place in the North Coast Athletic Conference with an 8-3 record. Wabash will have the week off before traveling to Wooster this Saturday.
