Grapplers Seventh At Manchester

The Wabash wrestling team stayed in-state over the weekend, participating in the Sixth Annual Spartan Mat Classic at Manchester College. The Little Giants took seventh place out of 16 teams.

Senior Mike Schroeder (Evansville, IN/Mater Dei) was cleared to wrestle after suffering a concussion last weekend. He entered the tournament as the number two seed, but went a perfect 3-0 to win the championship at 184-pounds. Schroeder opend with a win by pin in his first match at the 3:38 mark, followed by a 6-0 victory over Manchester's Mark Rakoczy to advance to the championship bout. Schroeder defeated Wheaton's David Hirt 9-3 to claim the title.

Logan Kuhne (Ft. Wayne, IN/Northrup) finished fourth at 197-pounds. Matt Endress (Evansville, IN/Reitz Memorial) took fifth place at 133-pounds. Brian Siddons (Cloverdale, IN/Cloverdale) earned a seventh-place finish at 125-pounds for the Little Giants. Chris Robertson (Rushville, IN/Rushville) was eighth at 141-pounds, as was Jason Lemler (Bourbon, IN/Triton) at 157-pounds, and Randy Widener (Danville, IN/Danville) at 165-pounds.
