Second-Half Shooting Too Much For Wabash

Wabash trailed by only five at halftime, but couldn't survive a second half three-point frenzy by the College of Wooster as the number two ranked team in Division III defeated Wabash 100-75 on Saturday afternoon at Chadwick Court.

Wooster hit 7-of-10 three-pointers in the second half to race out to the second-half victory. Wabash also hit the trey most of the afternoon, finishing 6-of-8 from behind the three-point arc for 75-percent.

Both teams spent a majority of the game at the free throw line. Fifty-five fouls split almost evenly between the two teams led to 65 free throw attempts. Wabash finished 23-of-32 from the stripe, while Wooster hit 23-of-33 charity tosses.

Four Little Giants finished in double figures. Brady Claxton (Shelbyville, IN/Shelbyville) led Wabash with 16 points, including a 4-for-4 performance from the three-point arc. The sophomore guard finished with a near-perfect 6-of-7 shooting performance from the field. Pleas Ferguson (Indianapolis, IN/Arsenal Tech) had 14 points, and Ryan Short (Indianapolis, IN/Perry Meridian) had 13 points. Sophomore Joe DesJean (Indianapolis, IN/Perry Meridian) had his seventh double-double of the season, finishing with 11 points and 10 rebounds. The North Coast Athletic Conference's leading shot-blocker added another four swats to his season totals.

With the NCAC loss Wabash falls to 7-8 for the season with a 5-2 mark in conference play. Wabash will play host to Wittenberg University in NCAC action on Wednesday evening.
