Hammer Selected To Play In Aztec Bowl

Senior defensive lineman B.J. Hammer (Carmel, IN/Carmel) has been selected to play in the 2000 Aztec Bowl.

Hammer will travel to Merida, Mexico as one of 40 Division III All-Stars selected by the American Football Coaches Association to play against the Mexican National Football Team on December 16. Retired Central of Iowa head coach Ron Schipper will lead the squad for the fourth consecutive year.

Hammer set Wabash records for career (58) and single season (23) tackles for loss. He also set the single season (15) and career (27.5) record for sacks. He scored his first career touchdown with a then-record setting fumble return of 64-yards against Manchester. He broke that mark with a 93-yard fumble return against Allegheny.

The Aztec Bowl will be played in Alvarado Stadium, and is the traditional season-ending game for Mexico's college football season.
