Little Giants Lose To Muskingum In Consolation Game

A young Wabash basketball team ran into a Muskingum team that was hitting three-pointer early, losing 68-50 in the consolation game of the Little Giant Tipoff Classic on Sunday. Purdue University-Calumet defeated Augustana College 60-57 to take the title.

Muskingum hit nine three-pointers in the first half and 13 for the game to take the victory. Wabash had a 6-5 lead early in the game before the Muskies went on a 33-17 run for the rest of the period to take a 15-point halftime lead to the locker room.

Joe DesJean (Indianapolis, IN/Perry Meridian) equalled his career-best of 18 points against Purdue-Calumet on Saturday night with another 18-point performance against Muskingum. DesJean led all players in the Tipoff Classic in scoring to earn a spot on the All-Tournament Team.

Brady Claxton (Shelbyville, IN/Shelbyville) had eight points for the Little Giants on Sunday after scoring 10 in Saturday's game. Claxton led Wabash in rebounding with seven boards.Reed Hoyer (West Lafayette, IN/West Lafayette) came off the bench in the second half to give Wabash six points and three rebounds in 11 minutes of work. Freshman Matt Storm (Anderson, IN/Lapel) had six points, as did Zeljko Gavronovich (Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina/St. Mary's).

The Little Giants will face Earlham College at Chadwick Court on Wednesday night (11/22) in their first North Coast Athletic Conference matchup of the season. Gametime is set for 7:30 p.m.
