Basketball Team Picked Fifth In NCAC Polls

The Wabash College basketball team was picked to finish in fifth place in the North Coast Athletic Conference standings for the upcoming 2000-2001 season. The announcement was made as part of the NCAC basketball media day held in Columbus, OH.

Wabash earned 115 points in the media poll and 62 points in the coaches poll. The Little Giants finished second in the regular season standings last year, and were the runners-up in the NCAC Tournament.

Wooster was picked to finish first in the NCAC. The defending conference champions earned 18 of the 20 first-place votes in the media poll, and seven of the ten in the coaches poll. Wittenberg was the only other team to earn any first place votes, receiving two in the media poll and three in the ocaches poll.

Wabash opens its 2000-2001 season on Saturday in the second game of the Little Giant Tipoff Invitational. Wabash faces Purdue-Calumet at 8 p.m. after Muskingum and Augustana meet in the opening game at 6 p.m. at Chadwick Court.
