Mootassem's Two Goals Lead To Wabash Win

Two goals by freshman Aadil Mootassem (Tangier/American School of Tangier) led the Wabash soccer squad to a 2-0 victory over Hanover College at Mud Hollow Field on Tuesday afternoon.

Mootassem scored the first goal of his Wabash career in the 68th minute as senior Momodou Jagne (Banjul, Gambia/Gambia) found the freshman in front of the net. Mootassem took the pass and fired his second shot of the game past the Hanover goalie and into the back of the net to give Wabash a 1-0 lead.

Fifteen minutes later Mootassem put the game away, scoring his second goal of the match off of a Carlos Aguirre (Indianapolis, IN/Ben Davis) pass.

Goalie Graham Bailey (Evansville, IN/Evansville North) earned his second shutout of the season, making seven saves in the contest. Wabash fired 10 shots on goal. The Little Giants outshot Hanover 22-16 overall, and had seven corner kicks to five for the Panthers.

Wabash moves to 4-12 with the victory, and will play the top-ranked team in Division III, Ohio Wesleyan, in its final match of the season. The game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start at Mud Hollow Field on Saturday, October 28th.
