DeYoung Takes High Jump Title at DePauw Invite

Wabash senior Peter DeYoung (Evansville, IN/Bosse) cleared 6-6 to take first place at the DePauw Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

DeYoung tied the meet record in the high jump with his jump, equalling the record set by St. Joseph's Josh Hughes last year. Sophomore John Taggart (Carmel, IN/Hampton Roads Academy) was seventh in the high jump, clearing 6-2.

Senior Mark Sherer (Valparaiso, IN/Valparaiso) took third place in the 1,500-meter run. Sherer crossed the finish line of the indoor track in 4:04.67. Junior Dan Ruge (Chesterton, IN/Chesterton) was eighth (4:08.42).

Wabash finished 10th out of 15 teams in the overall competition.

Other top finishers for the Little Giants included a 6-7-9 finish in the triple jump. Taggart took sixth place with a leap of 39-3 3/4. Senior Josh Waters (Muncie, IN/Burris Laboratory) was seventh with a distance of 38-9. Freshman Tyler Hilton (Lafayette, IN/Harrison) was eighth (38-1 1/2).
