Healy, Miller Go Undefeated at Monon Bell Classic

Wabash sophomores Chris Healy (Jasper, IN/Jasper) and Adam Miller (Pendleton, IN/Pendleton Heights) went undefeated in individual matches at Saturday’s 21st Monon Bell Wrestling Classic.

Healy finished 4-0 at 174 pounds, winning his 35th match of the season. That puts the sophomore one victory away from tying the school record of 36 wins in a single season, set by Dan Emerson ’98.

Healy opened the day with a 10-4 victory over Byron Sanders of Rose-Hulman, then won his match against the University of Indianapolis’ Aaron Johnson 3-1. An 8-6 win against Olivet was followed by a pin just :24 into the final match of the day.

Miller also picked up four wins in the one-day event. He opened the day with a pin at the 1:31-mark against Rose-Hulman. He pinned his next opponent in the final minute of the 157-pound match. He added an 8-5 win over Ken Andrews of Olivet. Miller’s final win came with a decisive 11-2 win in the last match against Carson-Newman.

Sophomore Phu Hong (Indianapolis, IN/Lawrence Central) and junior Reece Collins (Princeton, IN/Princeton) finished 3-1 on the day.

Wabash finished eighth out of 11 teams in the final tally with a 1-3 team record.

The Little Giants will participate in the Wheaton College Wrestling Invitational beginning Friday evening.
