Little Giant Thinclads Take Second at Home

The Wabash College track and field team finished second out of nine teams at the second annual Wabash Alumni Indoor Track and Field Invitational on Saturday.

Senior Peter DeYoung (Evansville, IN/Bosse) tied the Knowling Fieldhouse record by clearing 6-8 in the men's high jump to take first place for the Little Giants. Junior Dan Ruge (Chesterton, IN/Chesterton) added another first-place finish for Wabash, crossing the finish line ahead of the field in the 800-meter run in 2:01.26.

Senior Mark Sherer (Valparaiso, IN/Valparaiso) finished first in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:07.9, finishing just ahead of Ruge in second place with a time of 4:08.1. Sherer also had a second-place finish in the 3,000-meter run (9:15.94).

Senior Caleb Ishman (Gary, IN/Emerson Visual and Performing Arts) added a third-place finish in the weight throw (13.14 meters).

Wabash also took second in the 4 X 400-meter relay (3:37.54).

St. Joseph's College was first in the men's team scoring with 576 points. Wabash was second with 373, beating out Wittenberg University in third place with 310.

The Little Giants will participate in the North Coast Athletic Conference Indoor Relays to be held Saturday, February 1 at Denison University.
